This year, Romney's presentation centered on the evidentiary challenges he faced while presenting his case in chief in the trial of Kula v. Omni Manor Healthcare Center, et al. (Mahoning County, Case No. 23-CV-2099). The case arose from the tragic death of a disabled woman who choked to death while under the care of an assisted living facility. This heartbreaking outcome raised serious questions about the standard of care owed to vulnerable residents.
Romney's work on the case resulted in an extraordinary verdict on behalf of the family.
